Crystal Ruiz
Miss Massachusetts Teen
Belleza Latina 2004

My name is Crystal Ruiz, and I am representing the historical city of Boston, Massachusetts. I am proud to say that I am Puerto Rican (even though I was born in the US). My mother is from Santa Isabel and my father is from Trujillo Alto. I am the baby of my family and luckily for me I have three very protective older brothers.

I am currently a Junior in High School were I am an honor roll student. When I am not at school I am dancing which I am have been doing for the past 12 years in many different areas such as tap, jazz, ballet and of course salsa, merenge and bachata. Also I enjoy competing in pageants because I love having the opportunity to represent my state, make new friends and I feel that they help me practice skills that I will use later in life for example being able to have an intelligent conversation in an interview setting as well as being able to get on stage in front of an audience.

I am very excited and honored about holding the title of Miss Massachusetts Teen Bellaza Latina. For the past year I have been able to make a difference in both mine and other surrounding communities in Massachusetts, whether it be from collecting money at the Children’s Hospital radiothon or helping take patient information at the Mammography Van. All these activities have help me to grow as a person and to appreciate all that God has given me. I feel it is my duty to be a positive role model for the young latina girls, to prove to them that they can do anything they put our mind to. One of my goals is to be able to change some of the stereotypes that we as Latina women are faced with in today’s society.

I can’t wait till this August when I will be competing for the national title of Miss Teen Bellaza Latina! I believe the next Miss Teen Belleza Latina must be able to be a positive Hispanic role model on both a local and national level and bring pride to her community.
